New York's Workers' Comp. Reform
Troy Rosasco, fellow Long Island blogger, and editor of the Disabled Worker Law Blog provides an interesting perspective on recent proposals to change New York's workers' compensation system. Troy, as a representative of the disabled and of workers injured on the job, as usual takes a strong stand against some of the changes. For human resources professionals, it's worth the read. All too often we hear the pro-employer side of the issues in our day to day readings. This is an interesting way to see what the issues are from the other side.
Thanks Diane for your thoughtful comments. Of course, there are always two sides to the issue and the business community does need some relief from rising workers' comp costs. For instance, injured workers would have no problem with a prescription drug fee schedule and a requirement to use generics. This would save employers a bundle, and could fund a long overdue benefit increase for workers. Working together to forge a fair compromise is great, as long as we don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Best regards, Troy
